Goodbye 2024. What’s Next for Comic Book Treasury in 2025?

Like our favorite Marvel and DC superheroes, life often feels like an endless chain of events—and sometimes, we wish we could skip a few of them!

2024 was a challenging year for many, and Comic Book Treasury was no exception. As we shared a few months ago, the changes to Google’s search algorithm had a massive impact on the site, and not in a good way, cutting our traffic in more than half. For a small website like ours, that’s a big hurdle.

While I know some creators have shifted towards video, Comic Book Treasury is—at its heart—dedicated to written guides and articles that you can bookmark and revisit to explore and follow the stories of your favorite characters or the latest events.

Looking Back at 2024

As I said, Comic Book Treasury is maybe a little website, but one that now features over 500 Reading Guides —a number that reflects countless hours spent researching, writing, and, of course, reading comics!

We’ve also been working on keeping those guides updated with the latest collections and releases. To help you find these updates more easily, we started a “Recent Updates” page, where you can see what’s been refreshed and improved. Maintaining such a large library of guides means we have to sometimes hit pause on creating brand-new articles.

With so much reading guides, we also felt that some guides were being overlooked.  We decided to bring back to the forefront specific articles, whether they’ve been updated, tied to a big release, or are simply favorites we think deserve more attention. This trend will continue in 2025.

With the launch of the DC Compact and DC Finest lines this year, we’ve been inspired to expand the Releases Section beyond Omnibus editions! With so many comics coming out every week, we hope these updates make it easier for you to find specific books.

Looking Ahead to 2025

In 2025, we’ll keep updating guides and adding new ones, hoping to give you a great reading experience and make Comic Book Treasury a site you’ll want to visit again and again.

After the difficulty faced this past year, we’re also thinking about ways to support the site, including the possibility of launching a “Support Page” to help us keep things running and continue improving and growing the site amid the ongoing challenges of the online publishing world.

Our goal is to help you have the best reading experience possible, whether it’s through reading guides, updates, or spotlight features. In that spirit, we hope to help as many new and older readers explore the Comic book World, starting with some guide helping to start reading Marvel and DC Comics in January, followed if everything goes well by more articles offering recommendations for exploring these two publishers, but also other universes and publishers.

This feels like the perfect moment to introduce Fabien’s personal project: That’s Comics!—a space where he shares comic recommendations multiple times a week. It’s the ideal place to discover your next great read such as Mooncop by Tom Gauld, JSA: The Golden Age by James Robinson and Paul Smith, and Jar of Fools by Jason Lutes.

Although I’ve mentioned before that social media isn’t exactly my strong suit, you can still find Comic Book Treasury (and That’s Comics!) on platforms like on Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram and now BlueSky! You can also, if that’s not already the case, subscribe to our newsletter. We’re always grateful for any shares or links to our articles, as it helps Comic Book Treasury be more visible. Feel free to shoot us an email, leave a comment, or reach out by mail—we love hearing from you!

We wish you happy holidays, many comic books under the tree and plenty of time to enjoy them!
