The Best of Jubilee Comics, Your Recommended Reading Order (X-Men)

Being part of the mutantkind comes with a different set of powers. Some people have telekinesis or pyrokinesis—and plenty of other -kinesis. Others can shoot energy from their eyes, control a planet’s magnetic field, or heal from any injury.

If your name is Jubilation Lee, you’re most known for your “fireworks”! While some people have called Jubilee’s powers one of the lamest, that didn’t stop her from becoming popular, especially in the nineties. And since it’s clear she can go nuclear on you, it’s safe to say you should never underestimate any power!

Created by Chris Claremont and Marc Silvestri in 1989, Jubilee joined the X-Men and became Wolverine‘s sidekick, forming a father-daughter bond with him. Later, she joined Generation X and became a fan favorite on X-Men: The Animated Series. Over the years, Jubilee’s life took some wild turns: she had a stint in Hollywood, lost her powers, worked for a pro-mutant group, became a vampire, adopted a child, got her powers back, and even turned human again!

To discover these stories and more, you can follow our Jubilee reading order guide for the best comics to read about one of Marvel’s most popular Asian American superheroes.

Jubilation Lee becomes Wondra

Her Aunt Hope was more than she seemed, and in the end, Jubilee’s ‘new’ normal life was blown up. She returned to New York, where her existence was completely transformed by the events of House of M. After losing her powers, she found a new purpose as a political activist. But being powerless didn’t mean her life was without danger. Soon, she was recruited to fight the new government regulations on superhumans brought on by the Civil War. She joined the New Warriors under the alias Wondra!

Vampire Jubilee!

After the dissolution of the New Warriors, Jubilee needed, once again, a fresh start. She moved to San Francisco (Nation X #2) and reconnected with Logan (in Things That Never Change from Girl Comics #3). Her life took a drastic turn when she was transformed into a full vampire! Over the following years, Jubilee came to terms with her vampirism and learned to control her new abilities. She bonded with Laura Kinney, joined the all-female X-Men team led by Storm, adopted a child, and even took a job as an assistant to Patsy Walker, aka Hellcat, to make ends meet.

Jubilee on Krakoa

Under the guidance of writer Jonathan Hickman, a new mutant nation is established on the island of Krakoa. Jubilee joins Captain Britain’s team in the Excalibur comic series, alongside Rogue, Gambit, Rictor, and even Apocalypse, to investigate magic in the Otherworld. While she has her moments during this run, Jubilee shines more in X-Terminators, where she, Dazzler, and Boom-Boom are kidnapped and placed in a deadly arena. Following the events of the 2023 Hellfire Gala, Jubilee becomes part of the main cast in the Dead X-Men series as the Krakoa era comes to an end.
