Spider-Gwen Reading Order (Gwen Stacy, Ghost-Spider)

Like her friend Silk, Spider-Gwen first appeared during the first Spider-verse event. Conceptualized by long-time Spider-Man writer Dan Slott, but really created by Jason Latour and Robbi Rodriguez, this Spider-Woman is not from the main Marvel universe.

Out of the Spider-Verse, Gwen Stacy swings into action as the Spider-Woman of Earth-65 — a neighborhood like no other! Gwen balances superhero life with being the daughter of a cop…and playing drums in an up-and-coming band, the Mary Janes! And you won’t believe her reality’s versions of the Lizard, the Osborns, Matt Murdock, Captain America, Frank Castle, and more!

The dimension-hopping Gwen joins a team-up of Spider-Women — and sparks fly when she meets Miles Morales! But troubles mount up at home, where she becomes S.H.I.E.L.D.’s most wanted…and problems with her powers lead to the introduction of Earth-65’s Venom!

Gwen would end up without a secret identity and so much more problems. This eventually led her to move to Earth-616 where she would become Ghost-Spider (because there already is a Spider-Woman on this Earth). With the help of Peter Parker, Gwen joined Empire State University, but she still went back to her own Earth, fighting villains on both fronts.

Spider-Gwen Comics Reading Order

Spider-Gwen: The Spider Woman from Earth-65

This first era of Spider-Gwen comics has been published in multiple formats: Omnibus, Modern Epic Collection, Paperbacks, Hardcover, and Graphic Novel TPB. What follows is a guide following the different editions.

Spider-Gwen Omnibus Collection

This first era of Spider-Gwen’s adventures (vol.1, Spider-women & vol. 2) is now collected in one big volume:

  • Spider-Gwen Omnibus
    Collects Edge of Spider-Verse (2014) 2, Spider-Gwen (2015A) 1-5, Spider-Gwen (2015B) 1-34, Spider-Gwen Annual (2016) 1, All-New Wolverine Annual (2016) 1, Spider-Women Alpha (2016) 1, Silk (2015B) 7-8, Spider-Woman (2015) 6-7, Spider-Women Omega (2016) 1, Spider-Man (2016) 12-14.

Spider-Gwen: Ghost-Spider Modern Era Epic Collection

The newer collection, the Modern Era Epic Collection is probably the easiest and cheapest way to read the Spider-Gwen adventures of that era.

Spider-Gwen: Graphic Novel Trade Paperback

Like the Modern Era Epic Collection, this edition doesn’t collect the Web Warriors series, but it also skips the Spider-Women crossover and her part in the Champions series.

Spider-Gwen: The Paperbacks

Like Cindy Moon/Silk, Spider-Gwen was introduced during the event called Spider-verse: Here is the full reading order of the event. The short version is that the Spider-People of the multiverse must become allies to fight the Inheritors who feed on the energy of the spiders. It’s optional. You can jump to her solo series directly.

  • Amazing Spider-Man: Edge of Spider-Verse
    Collects Edge of Spider-Verse #1-5. Spider-Gwen debuted in Edge of Spider-Verse #2.
  • Spider-Verse
    Collects Amazing Spider-Man (2014) #7-15, Superior Spider-Man #32-33, Spider-Verse #1-2, Spider-Verse Team-Up #1-3, Scarlet Spiders #1-3, Spider-Woman (2014) #1-4, Spider-Man 2099 (2014) #6-8 and more.

SPIDER-GWEN VOL. 0 MOST WANTED

After Spider-Verse concluded, Spider-Gwen started her solo adventures:

Web Warriors is a fun series about a team of Spider-People who are living interdimensional adventures. Spider-Gwen is part of this team, obviously. It started directly after the Spider-Verse, you can read it in parallel with the previous TPBs.

Spider-Gwen temporarily joins the Champions for a few issues:

The Clone Conspiracy (Optional)
Gwen is on Earth 616 and she ends up taking the place of the last clone of Gwen Stacy. She plays a small part in the event. You can find a full reading order here.

This is the end of the Spider-Gwen solo series… but not the end of the adventures of Gwen Stacy.

Spider-Gwen: The Ghost-Spider

Goodbye Spider-Woman, welcome Ghost-Spider! A new era starts for Gwen Stacy who changes her superhero name and her place in the Marvel Universe.

Icon Spider-Man Reading OrderSpider-Geddon
Optional. You don’t need it, even if the new Ghost Spider series is technically part of the event, but if you want more context, it’s a good story, a solid conclusion to the Spider-verse event. The full reading order is here. All the Spider-Geddon-related stories are also collected in the Spider-Verse/Spider-Geddon Omnibus.

If you are collecting Spider-Gwen’s stories in the Graphic Novel Trade Paperback, the following two stories are in the Spider-Gwen: Ghost-Spider book.

SPIDER-GWEN GHOST-SPIDER VOL. 2 - IMPOSSIBLE YEAR

The “Spider-Gwen: Ghost Spider” series was stopped and relaunched under the name “Ghost-Spider.”

Like most Spider-themed heroes, Spider-Gwen joined The Amazing Spider-Man aka Peter Parker for the Last Remains storyline. You can find the full reading order here.

King In Black: Gwenom vs. Carnage
Gwen got caught up in the King in Black event. Here is the full reading order.

On Earth-65, Gwen Stacy was bitten by a radioactive spider, gained arachnid-like superpowers, and started a crimefighting career as Spider-Woman (or as she’s affectionately known to her peers, Ghost-Spider)! But what would have happened if, instead, she had picked up the enchanted hammer Mjolnir? Or if she received the Super-Soldier Serum? Or built a high-tech suit of armor? Or…you get the idea! Well, you’re going to find out! Gwen Stacy is about to face a unique journey of self-discovery across time and space, never quite knowing which reality or time period she’s just landed in — or which version of herself she’ll be meeting next! Get ready to experience…the Gwenverse!

The End of The Spider-Verse: Like many (all?) of the Spider-People, even some new ones, Gwen joined the End of The Spider-Verse storyline that marked Dan Slott’s return to the Spider-Universe. Her part in the story is not significant though, to say the least. This is optional.

Spider-Gwen Shadow Clones

Ghost-Spider faces her own clone saga in SHADOW CLONES!
