Ultimate Marvel After Secret Wars: A Comics Guide to the characters on Earth-616

Previously on Ultimate Marvel... Imagine the Marvel heroes you know and love, but younger and more modern! Welcome to Earth-1610, an alternate reality where classic characters like Spider-Man, Captain America, and the Fantastic Four are reimagined with fresh, updated origins, free from decades of continuity baggage. The Ultimate Universe was a perfect playground for writers to create accessible stories for new readers while shaking up the status quo for long-time fans.

It all started with Ultimate Spider-Man, retelling Peter Parker’s origin for a new generation. Then came The Ultimates, a reimagining of the Avengers, where the team faced a massive alien invasion in The Ultimates 2. Major events like Ultimate War saw the X-Men clash with the Ultimates, creating tension between Earth’s mightiest heroes and mutantkind.

But the Ultimate Universe wasn’t about retelling classic stories—it also went in new directions. In Ultimatum, Magneto turned the world upside down, with a disaster that reshaped the universe. New faces took up old mantles, like Miles Morales becoming Spider-Man, while Reed Richards transformed into the villain known today as The Maker.

Eventually, Earth-1610 was destroyed and reshaped during the multiverse-shattering Secret Wars event. While the ultimate universe was no more, a few characters, like Miles Morales, found a new home in the main continuity…

The Ultimate Universe Characters on Earth-616

Since the destruction of the Ultimate Universe almost ten years ago, several characters have reappeared on the new Earth-616. The most significant relocation is undoubtedly that of Miles Morales and his family. However, they aren’t the only ones from the destroyed Earth-1610 that you might have encountered again. Here’s a list of the characters who have made a comeback—some briefly, and others for a longer stay:

    • Ganke Lee (Miles’ friend)

    • Jimmy Hudson (son of the Ultimate Wolverine)
    • Quicksilver (Pietro Lensherr)

A Comic Book List Featuring the Marvel Ultimate Characters

For simplicity’s sake, the following list doesn’t include all of Miles Morales’s appearances, as he’s a busy superhero on Earth-616—living out solo adventures, co-starring in many Spider-Men events, and becoming a member of the Champions. Below, you’ll find the essential comics featuring Miles up to a certain point. With that said, let’s dive into the comic books featuring characters from Earth-1610, now relocated to Earth-616!

The Maker teams up with the High Evolutionary, taking part in the Eternity War and using the chaos to advance his own interests and ambitions in the Ultimates! This collaboration leads to the return of several Ultimates characters (the team from Earth-1610) in issue #100:

X-Men: Blue Set after the events of IVX, Cullen Bunn’s X-Men: Blue follows the time-displaced X-Men as they work to restore their team’s reputation. They soon meet other displaced mutants, as several characters from the Ultimate Universe have fallen into Earth-616. Together, they form the New Marauders, but their role is minimal after their introduction, appearing only in the final act. However, James Hudson Jr. leaves the New Marauders to join the Blue Team.

Ultimate Mjolnir! After the destruction of the Battleworld, the Ultimate Mjolnir found its way to the new Earth-616, landing in the ruined City of Asgard. During Jason Aaron’s run on Thor, becomes unworthy of wielding his hammer. Upon discovering the existence of a mysterious other Mjolnir, he starts a quest through the cosmos in search of redemption. This relic, of course, is the Ultimate Mjolnir. Can Odinson reclaim his honor, or will the power of thunder be wielded for evil? The answer lies in the following trade paperbacks:

Who is the Miles Morales of Earth-616? Miles Morales and Peter Parker team up once more to solve this mystery, continuing to explore how Miles adjusts to his new life in the main Marvel Universe and how his experiences shape who he is. This event, set well after Ultimates #100, concludes by revealing a rebuilt Ultimate Universe, with the Ultimate Captain America and several other heroes alive and present.

Miles Morales swings back into the spotlight! This is the start of Saladin Ahmed’s run on the character. Our young Spider-Man finds himself entangled in events affecting the Symbiotes during Donny Cates’s run on Venom.

Absolute Carnage! Carnage, the psychotic offspring of Venom is back and at the center of an event that also features Miles Morales and The Maker.
